Welcome to the Disney Pixar Blog Hop!

Disney and crafting are a magical combination, and we are so happy you joined us to day for this blog hop.  Some of the crafters participating in this event have been doing this together since 2011!  Over the years the hop has grown but one thing has always stayed the same . . . amazing crafting projects that feature your favorite characters from Disney and Pixar movies.

For 2016 we are going to attempt to have a hop every other month for the entire year . . . February, April, June, August, October and December.  If you are on Facebook you can like the group page so that you can be the first to learn about each upcoming event.  Just click HERE to go the the Facebook page.

Since Valentines Day is just around the corner, I decided to make some cards with my Frozen Cricut Cartridge, Wild Card Cricut cartridge and Lawn Fawn stamps.

To get started, I cut two heart shaped cards from the Wild Card Cricut cartridge.  I cut one from a burgundy paper that has a shimmer finish, and the other from a teal cardstock with a flat finish.

Next I prepared to cut Olaf from the Frozen Cricut cartridge.  To save some time, I placed white, blue and orange carstock onto my mat and loaded it into my Cricut.  This way I could just move the blade to the upper right corner of the color I needed to cut and I did not have to unload the mat for cutting each color.

Also, I used a white dry erase board paper from DCWV for the white of Olaf.  This gave the entire cut a little bit of a glossy look.

Since I knew I was making two cards, I cut all layers twice to speed up the assembly process.  I did have a slight problem with the white on the Olaf on right.  Can you see the small tear where Olafs leg attaches to his body on the image on the right?

It tore as I was taking the paper off the mat.  No worries . . . . lets just call this an opportunity for embellishment and I will show you how I fix it later on in this post.

This next picture was supposed to show how I start to piece the layers of the cuts together, but I also wanted to include it because I thought it was funny and Olaf kind of has a "Nightmare Before Christmas" look to him at this point.

Once I had some of the large white areas glued onto the black background piece, I added the blue for the inside of Olafs mouth.  I wanted to add that first since I figured it would be easier to place the white cut for his tooth and space it nicely inside of the blue background.

Here is how Olaf looks after I have placed all of the different layers of cardstock on to the black background.

I wanted to add some cute phrases, but I dont
like my own handwriting so I wanted to use stamps for the sentiments.  Lawn Fawn has a stamp set called Heres The Scoop that had some perfect phrases.

For both cards, I cut two hearts, one from patterned cardstock and one from solid colored cardstock, to layer behind the Olaf cut.  I also added some dots of Viva Decor and stamped some small hearts for accents around the outside edge.

Remember the tear by Olafs leg in one of my cuts?  Let me show you how I covered that up.

I used Viva Decor and just "smudged" it over the tear and up the side of the cut.  Then I added it to the other leg and around the arm also.  This makes the smudges of Viva look intentional and not like I am trying to hide something.

I cut a banner shape from another Lawn Fawn set and stamped the phrases "you are so cool" and "you melt my heart" on them.  I thought these were perfect for an Olaf card.

I hope you enjoyed my Olaf heart shaped cards!  Now you can hop over to the other blogs to see what they have created.

Before you go, make sure to enter to win our prize for this hop . . . a Disney paper pack from Queen & Co.

The paper stack will not even be shipping out to stores until late February 2016, so you can have it before the stores are even selling it!  Note: Due to the fact that we received this paper stack so early, it is considered a promotional proof and there could be some slight variations from what will be shipped to stores.
