Blogging 3 Reasons Why Most Fail in this Field!

Blogging can be a perfect way if you wish to build your presence on the web, however you need to know some essential facts.

There’s plenty of hard work involved when you’re trying to create a place in which people love to come time and time again.

In this post, we’ll discuss a few reasons why individuals fail with blogging.

So, the 3 top reasons why most fail in this field are:

1) Selecting a wrong niche

Obviously, the initial step to building your personal blog is to pick your niche or the topic you enjoy.

If, it is to make money online, then pick that as your blog topic.

Selecting a wrong topic can cause you plenty of headache as well as waste of valuable time in case it turns out to be not profitable enough.

You’ll be putting in most of your time in blogging & if the topic isn’t good enough to monetize, you might just end up wasting your time.

2) Lack of patience

Many times, people turn to blogging just because they wish to make some cash. But, typically it doesn’t work that way.

It takes a lot of effort & you should be passionate enough about what you’re writing about in your blog.

Or you won’t be able to stick with the niche & all your efforts might be short lived.

If you’re really serous, you must be ready to put lots of work into your blog for at least 6 months to see the results.

Concentrate on building a great foundation & also learn proper management techniques.

Hence, patience can be truly critical when blogging.

3) Inconsistency

Consistency can be crucial irrespective of your field.

Blogging perhaps is among of the longest practices for making money online.

Whilst you could make a little cash quickly, building a strong foundation is more essential.

Staying consistent in your efforts can build your authority & as time passes you’ll know what it takes for maintaining a growing blog.

Know how to write quality articles, enhance your SEO skills, and build relationships with the visitors of your blog.

Staying consistent in regards to your blogging efforts could ultimately create other methods for making money online as well.

The above are only a few reasons why individuals fail in blogging, nevertheless these things are surely the biggest as to why most dont succeed with blogging.

Blogging can be a really effective method for building something credible and long lasting.

Controlling Dust Mites in Your Home

My guess is that you dont know much about dust mites except they are small, unseen creatures that disgust you. Perhaps someone in your household is allergic to them. Here is some background information on dust mites and how you can work to control them in your house.

Dust mites dont live in your air ducts, although most people tend to focus there when attempting to remove them. They live in soft places, prefer higher humidity and release a protein which causes an allergic reaction for many people. If you dont have any reactions to dust mite proteins then reducing your exposure may not be a priority for you but these basic treatment steps should still be taken to reduce their presence in your home and affect on your life. If you need motivation to do some of these steps you can see pictures of dust mites by doing this google image search. Theyre gross enough to scare anyone into a rapid cleaning spree.

1. Dust and vacuum your house on a regular basis. The more dirt you have, the more dust mites you have.

2. Use a dehumidifier to reduce the humidity levels in your home as they prefer high humid environments (anything over 70%)

3. Wash your familys bedding in hot water at least twice monthly, preferably weekly.

4. Get machine washable plush toys if you have children, the fabric harbors dust mites.

If you have someone allergic to dust mites these are more intense combat steps to take:

1. Do your best to eliminate all cloth surfaces as they tend to harbor these creatures

2. Replace your carpets with wood or laminate flooring

3. Remove fabric covered furniture and switch to wood or plastic pieces

4. Wrap your mattress, pillows and box springs in zippered covers that area dust proof and allergen proof.

You probably wont completely eliminate dust mites, but you can go a long way toward reducing their numbers by maintaining a clean healthy living environment. Your family will thank you for it.

LACK OF RELEVANT EDUCATION – A HUGE SETBACK TO ECONOMIC GROWTH DEVELOPMENT IN CAMEROON

I have spent nine straight months in Cameroon for the first time since December 2003 (when I first travelled out of Cameroon in search of a better life). During these nine months I have been engaged in various economic/developmental activities (running a business and lecturing on a part time basis). In my opinion, the major missing ingredient to attain economic growth in Cameroon is lack of relevant education. The Advanced Learner’s dictionary defines EDUCATION and RELEVANT as shown below.
EDUCATION
• The process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university: a course of education
• An enlightening experience: Petrus is a good workman—it is an education to watch him.
RELEVANT
• Appropriate to the current time, period, or circumstances; of contemporary interest
• Closely connected or appropriate to what is being done or considered
Education + Relevant
I am sure you can do the math………..
Using the accountancy profession as an illustration – relevant accounting education in Cameroon will mean that an accounting degree holder in Cameroon should be versed with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in Cameroon – which is OHADA Accounting. But you will find many accounting qualifications that barely cover OHADA, some accounting qualifications treat OHADA Accounting as a course. Are these qualifications geared towards preparing Cameroonians for the Cameroon market?
a) What/how are we teaching our students, especially those in the universities?
I have presented lectures on finance related subjects on a part time basis to masters students at two higher education institutions in Cameroon and to my greatest surprise I noted the following:
• Even at the masters level students are more pre-occupied with gaining marks and subsequently getting a qualification. Students are very passive and only get active when a test is announced. I usually tell my students that if you have a master’s degree in a subject, then you should be able to display some mastery of that subject in the way you speak.
• The lecturing method employed by some of the lecturers does not help the already bad situation. Students should read and do research and class rooms at the master’s level should be used to examined principles and how these principles are applied in practice – practice in this case should look at the local environment – Cameroon.
• Lack of study material that links subject matter to the Cameroonian economy. How can universities/higher education institutions be using textbooks with foreign content (having little reference to the local realities) to train future leaders/managers of Cameroon? How come we do not have textbooks written by Cameroonian scholars that are relevant to the Cameroonian economy?
b) Who is teaching/lecturing our students?
It is maybe only in Cameroon that a student gets a qualification from an academic program in year one and without any job/professional experience becomes a teacher/lecturer in year 2 of the same program that he completed in year 1. About 50% of the knowledge I share in my classes comes from my professional experiences and not from just reading text books. In my opinion lecturers who possess some professional/practical experience stand a better chance to deliver relevant education to their students.
c) Learning is not only done in the classroom……
I have also noted with disappointment that many students do not think beyond the classroom box – they come to class, get notes from lecturers, read these notes and write exams. Once they pass these exams they obtain qualifications and many a times are unable to confidently explain to someone what they studied in the program. During an interview where I sat as an interviewer, a candidate who has obtained a certificate in Computerized Accounting was unable to explain what computerized accounting is all about. Learning and education does not only happen through formal school and certificates. The following are examples (not exhaustive) of alternative or complimentary learning routes or opportunities:
i. News (TV/radio) – there is always something on TV or radio that speaks about your field or sector. An accounting student should regularly listen to business news, or watch business related shows on TV.
ii. Movies – movies are for enjoyment but try to watch movies that can teach you something in your field or sector, e.g. a law student should have preference for legal/investigative movies.
iii. Magazines/Newspapers – Read magazines or newspapers in your field/sector.
iv. Internet – points i to iii above can be achieved on the internet. The internet is not just a medium to socialize through social applications. It holds a wealth of information that can be used as a source of learning/education. You frequently hear people saying “google it”, how often do you google things?
Conclusion
The reason we spend so many years in school (from primary to university) is because we seek to gain knowledge and skills that we can use (through working) in our country. It is therefore imperative that the learning process (education) is aligned (relevant) to the needs of our country.

How to Clean a Cuckoo Clock

that are cleaned by improper methods can cause these items to shift, break, or become damaged so that the clock will fail to keep the proper time or stop working completely. If you are concerned about the status of your clock, consider taking it to a professional clockmaker or a jeweler who specializes in clocks for a cleaning or repairs so you can be certain your clock will last to cuckoo again.

When it comes time to clean you cuckoo clock, consider the clock itself is two actual pieces. The first piece of the clock is the case. Typically made of solid hardwoods, the case of your clock should be properly maintained to keep the beauty of the wood. Additionally, most cuckoo clocks are decorated with heavy carvings or wooden figurines, so you should take great care in cleaning the more decorative clocks due to the fragility of these items. Finally, clocks that have painted details or decorations should be carefully cleaned, since some cleansing agents can remove or damage the woods finish or the paint itself. Turn to products that will gently remove and dirt, grime, and build up accumulated over the years of display or storage. For general cleaning, avoid using furniture polishes or waxes that can add to your problem. Instead, consider dry dusting or use products made with natural oils like lemon oil or orange oil to keep the wood properly nourished to prevent cracking.

The main workings of the clock are held within the case. These workings are often tiny and intricate, proving to be easily lost or damaged, so take the cleaning process with the utmost care. Before you begin the cleaning process, assemble the necessary cleaning tools. Often, the best tool you can use to cleaning clocks or any other items with small working parts is a simple Q-tip and soapy water. Take care not to soak the clock or any materials with water or any other liquid. Also, use a gentle touch to swab the piece instead of scrubbing the items. Although dirt or grime can stop a clock from running, the workings of a clock do not need to be scrubbed clean in order to work. Unless you have experience working with clocks, it is strongly suggested that you leave the heavy cleanings to the professionals.

A cuckoo clock is a great piece to add character and beauty to any home. Having a clock in clean and working condition is essential for any owner of a cuckoo clock, especially if you are looking to keep the clock as an heirloom piece for future generations.

Eileen Hull A Stitch In Time Bella Crafts Connections Event

This morning I took the Eileen Hull - A Stitch In Time Workshop at the Bella Crafts Connections Event at the Mall Of America.  She was showing us how to use her new Stitchlits line of dies.

They will cut tiny holes into a huge variety of materials and then you can just add the stitching with your favorite thread, embroidery floss, ribbon or yarn.  This idea kind of reminded me of when those stitching stamps were the hot thing in the card making world, but this takes it a step farther with REAL stitching.

You can use these dies on so many projects.  Here are a few that Eileen had on display.

I love that there really is no wrong way to stitch these.  She even included some stitch examples for us.  If anyone has done cross stitch or remember those plastic canvas projects from the 80s . . . well then you can do these.

The project we did in the workshop was a 6"x 6" matted image.  I totally forgot to take a photo of the example one that Eileen had at the class.  If I get a photo of it later today, I will add it to this post.

We cut an embroidery hoop image out of both a teal mat board and a wood grain that was mounted on top of a piece of white mat board.  I was talking to someone at my table when I ran the wood grain on white through the Big Shot so it was not quite centered.  Ooops.

Then I looked at my teal cut and it seemed more centered so I ended up using THAT as my main piece for the project.  I saved the other half to use for something else.  Since we cut the same shape from both colors, after you had them cut you just "puzzle piece" them together with each other.

Next was the hardest part for me . . . decided WHICH dies I wanted to use!  There are some that will just do the holes for stitching, like in the product photos at the top of this post.  There are others that to flowers, stems and leaves.  Some cut the shape.  Some cut just the holes for the stitching.  Some cut BOTH the shape with stitching inside of it.  This allows you to choose your own combinations and layer things (but for me it was just too many choices!)

While I was at the workshop, on one piece of fabric I cut an argyle stitching off to the side, and then started to build a flower.  I was going to layer several colors and sizes of flower shapes . . . so I just started to cut all kinds of flowers until something came to me.  The problem was, the idea that came to me was NOTHING like how I had started.  Luckily we were each given 2 pieces of fabric.  So I cut the stitching into my second piece of fabric and took the flowers I had cut home so I could put the project together.

For this example, I ran the chevron stitching on the fabric in one direction, then I turned the fabric and ran it the other direction.  You want to do this and NOT run the die through the Big Shot with the die turned horizontally . . . that will put too much pressure on the rollers if that die is trying to cut ALL of those little holes at once.

Now it was time to start stitching.  This was nice since I could sit and do it while watching television.  I decided to use both teal and yellow thread to give even more color to the stitching.  I knotted the two colors together so that I could stitch them both at the same time.

Next it was on to the flower.  I decided to use a pale pick flower cut from felt.  I wanted the flower to pop off the fabric and have some dimension to it.

I tried a couple of different variations of how to stitch it in order to give it more depth, but in the end what seemed to work the best was just a straight stitch that I pulled on slightly to tighten it and make some of the petals "pucker".

I layered the pink flower over a yellow flower and added a leaf cut, and this i the finished project.

I think it turned out really cute.  My sister-in-law just had her first baby girl, and I might give this to her as a gift to hang in the babys room.
