I am here!

My daughter would be happy to see that Donalds smiling face was in the hotel lobby to greet me.

I went and picked up my badge and the CHA directory

and I have my journal with the cover that I made at the Bella Crafts Connections event to take notes while at the show.

I created this in a class taught by Lorine Mason.  She will be here at CHA doing demos.  I cannot wait to see her and what she is creating now.

Then I had some time to kill, so I went for a walk.  Look . . . the happiest place on earth is right across the street from the Convention Center!

This next picture was just because I thought it was funny to see a hotel with the name Alpine in it, that had a snow theme to the exterior decor . . . with palm trees right next to it.

All that is left for today is to relax, look over the Show Floor map and figure out where we want to start tomorrow.  I think the best part is that I know I get to sleep in tomorrow, relax with friends and just enjoy breakfast before the show instead of grabbing a granola bar and racing over to the show floor as soon as the doors open to put any finishing touches on a booth display.

Dont get me wrong, I loved working in the booth with The Buckle Boutique.  Selling things that sparkle is a perfect fit for me.  I also loved that it allowed me to meet and network with so many people.  I know that this year will be different, but I hope to see CHA in a whole new way . . . from the eyes of someone attending the show, not the eyes of someone working the show.

I hope to continue to post, but if you dont see or hear anything from me just know that it is either because the wireless connection at the hotel is not working or that I am having so much fun there is not time to blog!

I dont consider myself a stamper, but I have recently been trying to do a little more with the collection of stamps that I have gathered over the years.  Seriously, I would hate to see how many stamps I would have it I WAS a stamper.

To start off I stamped this snowman image on a white square of cardstock.

I stamped the image a second time and cut around it.  I am going to use this second image as a mask.

I placed the image I am using as a mask over my stamped image, and I used two blue inks and applied them in a circular motion with a foam pad.  This gave a really soft background color.  (sorry the photo is so dark)

If I thought there was too much of one color, I just added more of the other until I got an effect I was happy with.

When I removed the mask it looked like this . . .

Now I could grab my markers and color in the hat, scarf and ornament.  Once it was colored in I decided to add some dimension to the ornament by adding a drop of Dimensional Magic.  I love this stuff!  It adds just a little dimension and shine to anything.  You can see a drop of it on the ornament in the image below.

Here is another snowman I made.  I have kind of gotten into the habit of making more than one card at a time.  Often I am using a sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock cut in half as my base, so it just makes more sense to make 2 cards at once.

Once the Dimensional Magic dries it is clear.  I took the next photo so you could see how it gives some shine and a nice rounded shape to the ornament.

For the base of the card I used a light blue cardstock that I cut in half, and then folded each half in half.

When I placed the snowman image on top of the base there was a lot of empty space at the bottom, and I did not know what to fill it with so I decided to trim off an inch of the base and make the card more square.

Then I layered the snowman image on top of some colored corrugated paper.  This added some nice color and another layer of dimension to the card.

Even though there were several steps to this card, it really did not take that long to make.  Since I was cutting everything to make multiple cards that really helped to speed things up.

Happy New Year!

I cannot believe that 2016 is here!  What a year it has been.  I was just talking the other day about how one year ago at this time I was in so much pain due to medical issues.  I was taking pain medication just to get through the day, and I was not able to fully enjoy the Craft and Hobby Association Conference and Trade Show in January 2015.  It is hard to enjoy anything when you are in pain 24/7.

And now it is just days away from me leaving for CHA 2016!!!!

Trust me, I plan to take in as much as I can while I am there this year!  I also hope to post photos and videos of what I see on a daily basis.  Are there any companies or products you want me to check out?  I do like to look at the new products area to see what is up and coming for the year.

One sad note about this years show is that it is the last one that is scheduled for Anaheim, California location.  Next year the show will be held in Phoenix, Arizona.

Also, as we kick of 2016 I wanted to share my crafting resolution with you.  As many of you know I have been organizing Disney Pixar Blog Hops for several years now.  The very first one was in 2011, and it has continued to grow over the years.  Now there is even a Facebook Page just for the fans of these hops, so that they can be the first to know when the next one is schedule and prepare for the Disney crafting magic!

For 2016 it is my goal to have a Disney Pixar Blog Hop every other month for the entire year!  The fist hop will be February 6th, 2016.  If you are on Facebook you can click HERE to go to the event page.  This will make a reminder for you.

My other crafting goal for 2016 is to get our website MyCutSearch.com 100% current with all of the images available on physical Cricut cartridges.  I have to admit, I got a little behind in updating the site.  In 2014 we were selling our house and that consumed a large portion of the year . . . getting rid of stuff we did not want, packing, selling the house, Mother Nature dropping a huge rain storm on us that flooded the basement, cleaning that up, the buyer of our house backing out due to the flooding, having a sump pump and drain tile installed in the basement, replacing the drywall and carpet in the basement, selling the house AGAIN and moving.  By the time all of that was over it was almost 2015 and it was in January of 2015 that my medical issues turned everything upside down . . . and then the surgery and recovery time.

So now I want to get the site current again so that all of you can use it to search for your favorite images on Cricut cartridges.

MyCutSearch.com website //   MyCutSearch.com Facebook page

So it looks like I have my crafting to do list ready.  What is yours?
