If you’re reading this post, chances are, you’re a creative type. You like to craft, explore your creativity, and share your creations with others. And it’s for people like you that Cricut created their line of personal electronic cutting machines.

A little known fact about Cricut is that they’ve actually been in business for over 50 years, and their primary purpose has been to develop tools that inspire creativity in people.

Today, millions of people use Cricut’s award-winning products to create beautiful, inventive, and personal projects.

So, what is Cricut? Cricut is actually a family of electronic cutting machines that make it possible for you to easily create amazing do-it-yourself (DIY) projects. Well, not totally DIY because Cricut’s incredible machine’s do a LOT of the heavy lifting.

The two machines that Cricut offers are:
  • the Cricut Explore One™ - allows you to cut
  • the Cricut Explore Air™ - allows you to cut and write wirelessly
To give you loads of creative freedom and versatility, Cricut developed the Cricut Design Space™, a cloud-based software that works seamlessly with the Cricut Explore® family of machines.

Design Space gives you access to all of your images and projects from any compatible computer or iPad, so you can design just about anything, anytime, and anywhere.

Once you’ve uploaded your design (or pre-designed image) to your Cricut Explore cutting machine, you can sit back and watch it magically bring your design to life.

There are so many interesting things you can make and do with Cricut – which we’ll be sure to cover in a future post. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, it’s best to go over each of Cricut’s machines, what they do, and how they are different. And since I’ve given you quite a bit of info already, we’ll pick up on there in next week’s post!

Until then … happy crafting!

It has been WAY TOO LONG since our last Disney Pixar Blog Hop . . . but good things are worth the wait!

When I was setting things up for this blog hop I realized that our first one was in 2011 . . . some of the bloggers from the original line up are still with us years later.  We have become great friends and it is always great to share our love of all things Disney!

Okay, lets jump into what you came here for . . . DISNEY PROJECTS!

My daughter recently celebrated her 15th birthday.  Since she is a huge Donald Duck fan, I always try to make her a Donald Duck birthday card . . . it is getting harder and harder to come up with a brand new idea!  Then I saw a picture of some cupcakes from Walt Disney World and . . .

This is what came from that cupcake inspiration!  How did I do it?  I started with a cupcake shaped card from the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge.  For this card I cut it at 5"

As you can see, the card shape I picked has a heart on the top of it . . . we will fix that in a little bit.  I did the card base in a soft gray color.

Next I cut all of the pieces for the cupcake.  Royal blue cupcake wrapper, to match the color of Donalds suit.  Yellow backing to give the look of the yellow stripes on the collar and cuffs of Donalds suit.  White frosting on the cupcake . . . for Donalds feathers of course.

I cut the top of the yellow base cut off, since all I really needed was the cupcake wrapper portion.  Then I layered that behind the blue wrapper piece.

Perfect little stripes showing through the wrapper.  Now it is time to put this on the base.  Next step, the frosting.

Before I attached the frosting, I trimmed the curve of the top of the cupcake to remove the heart shape from the top.  If you want, you can use one of the other cupcake shaped cards so you dont need to trim the heart off . . . I just really liked the look of this cupcake.

Before we attach the frosting, lets put some swirls in it!  To do that I just ran the frosting top through the Cuttlebug and look . . .

It looks like swirls of frosting.  Now to make the cupcake something that Donald would be proud of.  I used my Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge and cut the Donald Duck hat icon shape.  I believe I cut this one at 1 3/4".  I used the same soft gray that I used for the base of the card for the backing of Donalds hat, then I cut black and the same blue I used for the cupcake wrapper and layered them all of the perfect little topper on this cupcake.

Last but not least, the bright red bow on the front.  Perfect!

Now it is time for you to hop along and see the rest of the projects we have for you today.  The full hop line up is below.  Have a Magical Day!

March is National Crafting Month, and we thought the best way to start the month off would be to showcase an amazing project from two crafting companies that you can easily do at home AND have a contest so you can win some of these products!

BLING YOU BIN!

Marisa Pawelko of the Modern Surrealist has created a new line of rhinestone sticker sheets for The Buckle Boutique.  Marisa used these rhinestone sticker sheets to embellish ArtBin cases.  Now her bins have bling!

Since the rhinestone sticker sheet cut easily with a scissors, craft knife or die cutting machine, Marisa was able to easily cut around the outline of the large Sugar Skull image.  Then she peeled of the backing from the image she cut, and exposed the adhesive so she could apply the skull to her ArtBin.

She even cut the letters for the word ArtBin out of the sticker sheets!

Here Marisa is showing how you can cover a large surface with rhinestones quickly.  Just cut the rhinestone sticker sheet to size, peel of the backing and stick.  In a matter of minutes the top of this ArtBin is covered in rhinestones!  (just think how long that would have taken if you were setting each rhinestone one at a time!)

And since the rhinestone sticker sheets are so flexible, she was even able to wrap the clasp that holds the ArtBin closed.

There are just so many ways you can Bling Your Bin!  Would you like to win an ArtBin and a rhinestone sticker sheet?  Enter our contest below.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

There will be a total of three winners.
Each winner will receive one ArtBin and one rhinestone sticker sheet (color/pattern of their choice)
Winners must have a mailing address within the Continental United States.
Contest ends March 14th

GOOD LUCK!
